Cycling is One of the Best Exercises for Aerobic Fitness
The definition of exercise is generally any activity requiring physical exertion. Exercise is the primary method of gaining fitness and cycling is a fantastic exercise to gain endurance and strength.
There are two types of exercise...
-
Aerobic, or "with oxygen", is any exercise that requires increased oxygen intake. There are a great number of benefits derived from aerobic exercise affecting your health, body, mind, lifestyle, and training. Cycling is mostly an aerobic exercise.
Some examples of aerobic exercise include cycling, walking, swimming, stair climbing, and many more.
-
Anaerobic, or "without oxygen", is any exercise of such intensity that the body must use natural chemicals instead of oxygen to draw its energy. There are also many benefits to anaerobic exercise such as stronger muscles and an improved cardio-respiratory system.
Weight lifting is an example of anaerobic exercise as is cycling when your heart rate moves above the aerobic zone. Take a look at these fitness band exercises or fitness ball exercises for a cheap alternative to free weights or a home gym to get a great strength workout.
Exercise is required to improve your fitness and live a healthy lifestyle. We are not meant to be sedentary creatures. Get out on your bike and enjoy the wind in your face, the blur of the ground, and the adrenaline that comes with cycling and intense exercise.
